Built at the bench.

Press started as a tool for us and a few friends working through qualification programs — tired of score sheets, calculator apps, and a stopwatch pretending to be a timer while someone eyeballed the ready delay. We built what we wanted next to us on the bench. Then we finished it properly.

Press par timer mid-string — 5.9 seconds remaining on a Distinguished Expert course string

The clock runs
the course.

Pick a course — the timer already knows it. Ready delay, stand by, a loud start tone, the par counting down in digits you can read at arm's length, a distinct cease-fire. Every string in order, every par correct. A par timer — and it says so. Where the clock itself is the score, Press tells you to bring your shot timer and records your time.

PLACE-mode scoring — tapped hole locations on an AP-2 target, zones auto-scored

Three ways to score.
Zero ways to lose the data.

Tally rings with a tap. Type a total. Or place each hole on the target and let Press score the zones — line rule applied — and keep the group data. Photograph the paper and it's attached to the session forever. Twenty real targets, AP-1 to B-27.

Trends feed — fatigue curve, points over time, floor trend, and perfect-shot rate cards

The logbook that
keeps itself.

Points percentage over time. Readiness against the passing bar. Cold starts, hand gap, fatigue, perfect-shot rate. Every card in Trends explains its own math — and stays dark until there's enough data to say something honest.

Qualification ladders

Every rating of the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program — Pistol, Defensive Pistol I & II, Bullseye, Air Pistol — with pars, sequences, and passing rules built in; scores bank toward your rating. More programs are on the way.

Train your way

No program required. Pick a target, set a par or don't, tag the session, note the hand. Freeform shooters get the full record and full analytics — measured against their own shooting, nobody else's.

One tap to your instructor

A session report — scores, strings, pars, target photos — as one clean PDF, sent with your phone's own share sheet. It never passes through us. We don't even have a way to see it.

Yours alone

No accounts. No servers. No analytics. Your record syncs to your own iCloud and nowhere else, and a complete export is yours from Settings whenever you want it. We couldn't see your scores if we wanted to.

FAQ

What does Press actually run?

The NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program — Pistol, Defensive Pistol I & II, Bullseye Pistol, and Air Pistol — plus a library of published drills and freeform training for everything in between. Every course is pre-configured: strings, hands, pars, passing thresholds. More programs are on the way.

Is Press a shot timer?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Press is a par timer: ready delay, start tone, par, cease-fire. It does not detect shots. Drills where the clock itself is the score say "bring your shot timer" up front, and Press records the time you enter. For par-scored courses — which is most of them — Press runs the whole clock itself.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no servers. Your record lives on your phone and, if you enable it, in your personal iCloud. That's the entire data story.

What does the timer actually do?

You set a ready delay (1–5 seconds), it commands STAND BY, gives a loud start tone, counts down the par for that string, and ends with a distinct cease-fire tone. Slow-fire strings can be ceased early once you've finished shooting. Phone calls and audio interruptions cancel a string cleanly — never a half-dead timer.

How does scoring work?

Three ways, your choice: tally ring counts, type a total on a keypad, or tap each hole on a target graphic and let the zones score themselves — line rule applied. Every entry can be corrected later from the scorecard. Failed pass/fail reps simply don't bank — re-shoot them.

Can I enter targets I shot before I had the app?

Yes. Add a past session with an editable date (and an "approximate date" flag if you're not sure), pick the gun you used, then enter scores without the timer. Backfilled sessions are labeled honestly in your record — and you can assign a gun to any session after the fact.

Is my data backed up?

If iCloud is on, your record mirrors to your personal iCloud automatically. If it's off, the app tells you plainly — once — and you can export a complete archive (scores, sessions, guns, photos) from Settings whenever you like, and restore it on any phone.

Is Press affiliated with the programs it runs?

No. Press is an independent tool — not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the National Rifle Association or any organization or author whose course of fire appears in the app. We are, plainly, grateful for the programs they've built. Courses are encoded from each program's published materials and credited where they appear.
